For the Aztecs, human sacrifice was part of their worldview and cultural identity. The recent findings of a part of the Tzompantli of Templo Mayor, Tenochtitlán, show that a vast shelf of skulls (in the heart of its capital and just below the cathedral and the adjacent grounds).
